# Guide to the average calculators

The average calculators work out two kinds of average. One finds the mean and the median of a list of numbers; the other solves for average speed, distance or time on a trip.

It shows the speed in km/h, mph and m/s, and optional extras add up a trip of several legs, give the running or cycling pace per kilometre and per mile, and show how long the trip would take at another speed.

Finds the mean and the median of a list of numbers, and gives the count, sum, minimum, maximum and range beside the sorted list. It can mark values more than 1.5 times the interquartile range beyond the quartiles as possible outliers, show the steps, and says whether the mean or the median describes the data better.
