# Guide to the thermodynamics calculators

The thermodynamics calculators use Q = mcΔT to find the heat needed to warm or cool an object, or the mass, specific heat or temperature change when the heat is known.

### [Heat Capacity & Specific Heat Calculator](https://www.calculator.land/calculators/heat-capacity/)

Solves Q = mcΔT for whichever of heat energy, mass, specific heat or temperature change you leave out, in metric or imperial units. Specific heat can come from a material preset (water, ice, aluminium, iron, copper or dry air) or be typed in, ΔT can be entered directly or from a start and end temperature, and the heat is shown in J, kJ, cal or BTU together with the object's heat capacity and a chart comparing it with the same mass of water and of a metal.
