# Guide to the economy calculators

The economy calculators work out sums of money: how savings grow with compound interest, the tip and each person's share of a bill, and what an amount comes to in another currency.

## Economy

### [Compound Interest Calculator](https://www.calculator.land/calculators/compound-interest/)

Calculates how a starting amount grows with compound interest over a number of years at a nominal annual rate, compounded annually, semi-annually, quarterly, monthly, daily or continuously. Optional fields add regular contributions (annual, quarterly or monthly), an inflation rate and a tax rate, and it shows the final amount, the total interest and contributions, the return, the value after inflation and after tax, and a chart of how the starting amount, contributions and interest grow year by year.

### [Currency Converter](https://www.calculator.land/calculators/currency-converter/)

Converts an amount between the euro and the other currencies in the European Central Bank's reference rates, and between two other currencies as a cross rate via the euro. It shows the result, the rate for one unit and the date of the reference rates it used, and a button swaps the two currencies.

### [Global Tip Calculator](https://www.calculator.land/calculators/tip/)

Works out the tip and the total for a bill and splits it between the number of people you choose, with a tip percentage you type, set with a slider or pick from five presets from 15 to 25 %. Choosing a country fills in its usual tip percentage and currency, with a note on whether VAT is likely included; you can leave the tax out of the tip and round each person's share up, and a doughnut chart shows the bill against the tip. A second tab has a searchable list of tipping customs by country, which the calculator says is based on figures from Remitly and Bankrate.
